British Motor Show 2023

Casmin at the British Motor Show in Farnborough

Nick Campolucci and Ian Smith of Casmin Group attended the British Motor Show on its opening day (Thursday 17th August). Last year the show attracted more than 60,000 visitors over its four days and this years event had even more features to entertain customers and for specialist low volume builders to display their engineering, manufacturing and design skills.

New kid on the block in this area was a super car builder Contera from Cambridge.

Designed and built in Britain this unique, versatile car is the first fully road legal model from Contera. Born from a love of the Group C vehicles they decided to design and build a mid-engine GT car with this styling and foot print in mind.

Defining the exterior of the MD1 is the Group C inspired teardrop shaped roof with wrap-around windscreen that resides in a curvaceous and attention grabbing body shell.
The MD1 has a wide stance and a dominating road presence. With external dimensions and footprint of a Group C car, sweeping lines paired with the dihedral doors, and it’s see through engine cover gives the exotic/supercar identity to the car.

Also of interest was XCS designs. XCS Designs is an artisan car-builder that specialises in creating thoroughly modern and ultra-high quality interpretations of classic two-seater roadsters.

Based in Essex, the company is led by talented master engineer Harvey Rice. He directs a dedicated and forward-thinking team of design, development and production engineers, who work together with highly skilled fabricators and classic car enthusiasts to deliver bespoke, handcrafted vehicles that set new industry standards of build quality and safety.
